Unique operation to catch illegal trawlers

Fishermen caught repeatedly trawling illegally off the Arun coast have been convicted and fined at Chichester Magistrates' Court today (November 20), thanks to a unique operation assisted by the Sussex Police helicopter.

The inshore fisheries off Sussex

An exciting new report has been published by the Sussex SFC in which, for the first time, details on the extent and nature of the inshore fisheries off the Sussex coast are described. It is a comprehensive assesment of the spatial extent of an inshore fishery. This is an important development as it demonstrates the significance of the Sussex fisheries and is of use for spatial planning.

IFCAs are to replace the existing Sea Fisheries Committees in England.

The aim of this consultation is to seek your views on the establishment of IFC district boundaries and to gather your perspective on our proposals for which local authorities might be included within each IFC district
